![]() My HiFi dealer and I thought it was the Hegel H120 but even his amp which I can borrow has the same problem! When the Hegel H120 reboots it works fine, but the problem reappears randomly. The only thing I can do is to shutdown the Hegel H120 and interrupt the power cord. Changing to Spotify or mconnect same result: H120 has disappeared. ![]() The Hegel H120 is greyed out and can't be reached nor via iMac or iPhone. So no WiFi.ĪirPlay stops working, sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after an hour or longer. The Hegel H120 is wired connected (UTP) to an AirPort Express. I use Music via AirPlay to play music on my Hegel H120. And I can try and work through them.ĪirPlay drops out and amplifier Hegel H120 disappears from AirPlay I have an iMac 5K wired connected (UTP) to my router Cisco RV325. ![]() Or give me screenshots of the setup and especially errors that show up. Is there anything else you want to help you do the setup? I cannot actually see data flow on the 2.4ghz connection but it must be working. Mostly this is just the audio stream because I have nothing else running through it. in your setup with Synology as router it should work much better.ĭata flow on the Synology. but that is not relevant and again is the wireless bridge showing nonsense. The other one is asus ethernet connection back to the Synology. because it will actually show me the signal as a sensible graph. I also opened the v5 airport utility which is running on the Mac. Speeds are same as with the Asus which is not surprising because this is done in same room. and make sure I did not have too many overlapping channels etc. 5-6sec for the stream to initiate.įirst thing I did is use the wireless diagnostics in the Mac to do a scan. It does have a fairly long delay which is not surprising. works and sounds fine.Īll I did was change of the name of the wireless network I got the Express to join. I have now connected the Express to Synology and playing music through it via iTunes on the Mac. To downgrade to "smart" speakers for a large outlay is not attractive. I have a couple thousand dollars in 4 stereo amps and 8 speakers in various parts of my house. If anyone has found a cost-effective replacement for the AE I'd love to hear about it."This has been discussed at length." is not helpful or even accurate, at least according to the searches I just performed. If anyone knows a good discussion of these issues here or on another board, please provide a link. What is your music source? What are the file types? If you have success streaming music reliably, wirelessly, using Airplay through Airport Express, with a non-Apple router, can you please describe your arrangement in detail and any non-default settings (router and AE) and which firmware version. ![]() I did try another non-Apple router briefly- exact same problem. Notably, I had none of these issues with the Airport Extreme running the network. The Wifi coverage and strength is great- the problem is most certainly based in the AEs. Employing any of the last 3 firmware versions. I can get anywhere from seconds to minutes of music, from either my desktop Mac (running Catalina) or my iPhone but it will randomly drop the connection. My router is NOT an Apple product (1 Time Capsule and 2 Airport Extremes burned out in a year and I gave up). I am at my wits end because I have tried MANY things and my 4 Airport Expresses (Second gen with 2 Ethernet ports) refuse to operate as simple wireless Airplay extenders.
